David Langfelder owns and operates SolFit with his business partner and wife Gemady. Gemady Langfelder is student of nutrition at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. David is currently attending a Master's degree program in acupuncture and traditional Chinese medicine. They hope to graduate within the next few years and incorporate these skills as well as massage therapy into SolFit's treatment options for clients.

David's fitness journey began at the age of 18, when he started experiencing pain and morning stiffness which worsened over time. He was eventually diagnosed with ankylosing spondylitis which had a profound impact on his ability to work and his overall quality of life. After several years of progressively worsening symptoms and side effects from medications, he began incorporating fitness, nutrition as well as acupuncture and other TCM modalities into his life. David's life was changed for the better and he decided he would pursue a career that could enable him to help others struggling with medical conditions and poor lifestyle habits to start their own fitness journeys.

The Medical Exercise Specialist

Medical Exercise Specialists (MES) are extensively trained in the condition-based anatomy and pathology of over 50 common medical conditions. Medical exercise specialists are also trained in protocol-based approaches on the progressive management of these conditions. These protocols have been designed by medical professionals. Because of this, the MES can accurately understand how to create safe and effective exercise programming that will produce results for the client. Any professional who works with clients who have medical conditions must be able to understand medical terminology and communicate effectively with medical professionals. Medical Exercise Specialists are extensively trained in medical communication and terminology. Medical Exercise Specialists not only know the contraindicated movements and exercises associated with common pathologies, but also understand the underlying functional anatomy, kinesiology, physiology and biomechanics that informs the MES why these movements and exercises are unsafe and allow the MES to design specialized fitness regimens that are unmatched in quality, safety and effectiveness. Because of their specialized training, Medical Exercise Specialists can quickly identify red flags and warning signs during training sessions in order to avoid injury. Medical Exercise specialists can also get results while preventing injury in apparently healthy populations by using proven safe and effective fitness programming.
